About This Course

You'll learn about the complexities of organisations, understanding their structure and management concepts. You'll explore the fundamentals of accounting, finance and marketing, as well as getting the opportunity to learn about international business and marketing. You'll also get a grounding in the legal context for business and management, understanding the areas of law that directly affect the legal structure and operations of businesses.

You'l We design our modules to simulate the modern business environment, giving you the opportunity to solve business problems in real-life case studies. You'll learn in small groups, developing the confidence to work in project teams to a professional standard. You'll gain real-world experience through the two professional work placements you'll complete, and you'll have the opportunity to conduct a business research project with an employer in your final year.

Modules

Overview

Year 1

During your first year you will explore different areas of business. You will be introduced to areas such as organisations, their structure and human resource management concepts; you will learn about the nature and complexity of business organisations; you will get a sense of how businesses design and control business operations. In addition, you will start understanding how economic factors affect business decision and how different marketing concepts contrasts with alternative business philosophies. You will also get to understand the fundamentals of accounting and finance. At the end of the year, you will undertake your first work placement.

Year 2

In your second year, you will learn how to apply managerial and leadership models into your professional practice. You will also get additional exposure to marketing and finance. You will study the areas of English and EU law that directly affect the legal structure and operations of businesses and you will also select an area of expertise where you may want to make an original contribution to knowledge through a dissertation in your final year. At the end of the year, you will go on your second work placement.

Year 3

During your third year, you will get into more specialised areas in management including strategic decision management, environmental and sustainability and you will study some highly current trends in business such as e-business and e-marketing. You will also have the option to specialise in other areas amongst them are International Management, Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Creativity, Business Ethics, International Marketing. You will have the option to undertake a project based on Professional Learning Through Work or Academic Research.

Entry Requirements

Typically, our entry offer for this degree course is 112 UCAS tariff points. Other requirements: For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in both English Language and Maths.

We welcome students with a wide range of qualifications such as A Levels, BTECs and accredited Access courses. We treat every application on its own merits; we value highly the experience you illustrate in your personal statement.

If you have achieved a qualification such as a foundation degree or HND, or have gained credit at another higher education institution, you may be able to enter the course at Level 5 or 6. For more information, read our student guide to the Recognition of Prior Certified Learning

We accept a variety of international equivalent qualifications and Leeds Trinity interviews international candidates. Typically, this is a call at a mutually convenient time.
