Some of our most popular courses are our HNC/HND Business and Health and Social Care courses but prior to enrolling many of our students are unsure upon the main differences between them. When it comes to making career decisions it best to be sure you make the right one, we will help to make things clear when it comes to our HNC/HND courses.
What is a HNC Course?
Standing for Higher Education Certificate, a HNC course takes place over one year and is equivalent to the first year of a university degree. HNC courses are industry specific and focus on practical experience over theory. This makes it a cheaper alternative to a full university degree and is highly regarded by many employers.
What is a HND Course?
Standing for Higher National Diplomas, a HND course takes place over two years and is equivalent to two years of a university degree. Like HNC courses HND courses are industry specific and focus on practical experience over theory.
What Are the Benefits of a HNC/HND Course?
One of the main benefits and appeal of these courses is the practical experience that you gain which will make transitioning into a full-time job that little bit easier. Additionally, a lot of practical experiences are conducted in team environments getting you used to people of different backgrounds, abilities and perspectives.
Another benefit as alluded to above is the cost. As HNC/HND courses are equivalent to university degrees, in effect you’re paying per year at university, which is more flexible for most students.
Both an HNC and an HND will allow you to move straight into degree-level education when you’re ready, without the need to retake the first or first and second year of your education.
