Purpose of the RoleThe organisation is seeking to appoint a Human Resource Manager to provide comprehensive and professional HR support within a higher education environment. The postholder will assist staff and the Senior Management Team in all areas of human resources, including employee relations, performance management, and the full recruitment cycle. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure that HR operations run smoothly and in alignment with the organisation’s values and objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesProviding full HR generalist support in a similar higher education setting on all administerial, operational, and strategic HR activities, all in compliance with statutory obligations and best practice.
Providing comprehensive, professional and confidential HR support to staff and the Senior Management.
Employee Relations: Managing HR issues in conjunction with the HR team. Coaching and advising other managers. Bringing up to date employment law knowledge to the department to ensure compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks.
Overseeing the management of Recruitment and Induction processes.
In-depth understanding of Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment. Ensuring all pre-employment and safeguarding checks have been completed, in line with statutory legislation.
Managing the recruitment administration team, liaising senior colleagues to ensure the right balance of skilled and experienced staff.
Oversight of all the campus and ensuring they are consistently inspection-ready
Overseeing Performance Management.
Issuing contracts to staff members.
Managing all audits, including payroll, pensions and HR audit
Any other ad-hoc HR projects /research as needed.
Providing detailed reports to senior management teams.
RequirementsMust have a Masters degree in Human Resources or a related field
Must have leadership or management level 5 qualification (CMI/ILM)
Minimum 15 years of HR experience in the higher education sector in UK.
Solid understanding of UK Employment Law and Safeguarding requirements
Must have experience in international recruitment
Experience supporting HR audits and inspections
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Salary and BenefitsSalary range is £55,000 - £60,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
AHoliday entitlement is 28 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays.
Up to £5k annual incentives pro-rata given quarterly on meeting KPIs after successful probationary period.
