Year Lead for Health and Social Care Job Description.

Scholars School System, a project of UK CURRICULUM & ACCREDITATION BODY (UKCAB, a registered charity founded in 2006), is seeking Year Lead - Health and Social Care across all campuses, including Birmingham, Manchester and London.

Purpose

Scholars School System is seeking to appoint a Year Lead for Health and Social Care to play a key role in supporting the direction of the School, providing vision, direction and inspirational operational leadership and championing the enhancement of education for the health and social care portfolio across all campuses. 

The Year Lead will support the Associate Deans, Professional Services and Programme team to provide operational leadership to SSS activities and ambitions with a strong emphasis on teaching, learning and related activities to support student academic experience within Health and Social Care in promoting success for all students.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Support Programme/Deputy Lead in managing Health and social care courses, ensuring quality and academic excellence.

Assist in strategic planning and implementing departmental goals.

Contribute proactively towards achieving the Office for Students (OfS) B3 condition metrics

Provide leadership to academic staff, promoting collegiality and ambition.

Guide staff on learning outcomes, teaching plans, and quality assurance.

Enhance teaching and learning through knowledge application and innovation.

Manage student academic records and progression under Programme Lead oversight.

Promote digital innovation and student partnerships in education.

Foster interdepartmental collaboration to enrich the student experience.

Oversee teaching cover during absences and maintain standards.

Lead curriculum reviews, quality assurance, and implement required actions.

Mentor new staff, conduct inductions, and allocate teaching resources.

Collaborate with professional services and attend meetings to enhance student journeys.

Strengthen community ties through UKCAB partnership events.

Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion within staff and students.

Contribute to policy development in academic and other committees.

Adhere to organisational policies and procedures.



Requriements

Essential

Minimum of 6 years’ experience working within a Higher Education setting within the United Kingdom Education preferably universities and private institutes

Must have a Master’s Degree in a health-related subject,

PHD/EDD is desirable

Must have higher education teaching qualification PGCE/AFHEA/FHEA

Relevant and current professional registration

Previous experience of module leadership and associated activities

Ability to think creatively and with vision and the willingness to suggest and try new and creative approaches to problems.

Ability to provide and respond to constructive feedback, monitoring and addressing performance, and building trust and teamwork.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to express ideas clearly both verbal and written.

Proficiency in using virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle, Canvas), digital tools, and blended learning methodologies

Knowledge of formative and summative assessment methods, marking criteria, and feedback strategies that support student learning

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to varied audiences.


Benefits

Salary is £45,000 to £50,000.

Holiday entitlement is 28 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays.

Up to £5k annual incentives pro-rata given quarterly on meeting KPIs after successful probationary period.

Job Type

Basic hours are 40 weekly

Working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

This role may involve travel to other campuses, with all travel costs reimbursed.
