Course Lead (Health and Social Care) Job Description

Scholars School System is a project of UK CURRICULUM & ACCREDITATION BODY (UKCAB, a registered charity founded in 2006) having campuses across the United Kingdom, is looking for a Course Lead (Health and Social Care) for the London campus.

Report to: Academic Manager

 

Purpose

Scholars School System is seeking to appoint a Course Lead (Health and Social Care) who will be responsible for providing course leadership and coordination of course delivery to the Health and Social Care department. You will be required to liaise with the Academic Manager and highlight course-related issues. As a course lead, you shall work with module leaders to ensure academic delivery is effective and provide for a positive student experience.

 

Responsibilities

·       To provide course leadership and coordination of the course delivery team including convening course team meetings

·       To liaise with the Academic Manager and highlight course-related issues.

·       The course leader has a critical role in ensuring the quality of the student experience. As such they are to be the key point of contact for students, providing first-line arrangements for pastoral care and referrals to other support services as appropriate

·       To be responsible for effective engagement with and feedback from students which will include promoting course representative consultative meetings and undertaking course evaluation.

·       To work with module leaders to ensure that the academic delivery is effective and provides for a positive student experience, to include course content, the use of the most appropriate learning, teaching, and assessment methodologies.

·       To monitor and raise any issues with the organisation of modules including timetabling arrangements, the course assessment schedule, and attendance.

·       To plan and implement an effective induction programme for students.

·       To be responsible for maintaining and providing accurate course-related information.

·       To monitor course design and implementation, proposing incremental change if required, and leading course validation, and revalidation process including writing and collating course documentation.

·       To provide course leadership and coordination of course-related activities concerning recruitment, retention, progression, achievement, and student experience.

·       To liaise with partner universities and professional bodies, where required, ensuring any requirements for the course, including work placements and experience, are in place.

·       To liaise with others as required, within the department and with corporate departments to ensure the course meets University requirements, including quality assurance and enhancement.

·       To undertake general administrative duties as required to support the course.

·       To monitor student feedback to ensure the student experience and standards are consistent across all delivery methods.

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

Essential

·       3 - 5 years’ experience as a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education

·       Must have a PhD in Health and Social Care or a relevant field

·       Be able to work effectively independently as well as in a team.

·       Be result-orientated and have a strong focus on the student-learner journey.

·       Have the responsibility for strengthening student performance, growth in undergraduate offers, staff development, and maintenance of workplace culture and good practices

·       A teaching qualification or adequate teaching experience, with an understanding of lesson planning and scaffolded teaching

·       Experience of marking assessments

·       Be fully aware of the student learner journey

·       Enthusiasm for delivering a high-quality education experience

·       Enthusiasm for delivering a high-quality education experience

·       A record of leading a successful program development thought leadership in educational pedagogy.

·       Membership of a relevant professional body and an understanding of diversity, equality, and inclusion.

·       Experience in supervising student work and providing support and feedback.

·        Holiday entitlement is 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays

·        Up to £5k annual incentives pro-rata given quarterly on meeting KPIs upon successful probation period

·        3% annual increase per year on completion from your start date of service and on meeting KPIs
