Mustard tree

Mustard Tree is a charity that provides a wide range of services to people facing multiple obstacles in life, especially those facing homelessness and destitution. We have the Food Club as an alternative to a foodbank, allowing our service users the dignity of choice. Similarly, we have the Community Shop, which is open to the public, but we also provide vouchers to those that need them. We run support services and triage out of our reception, and we host the Street Engagement Hub on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Street Engagement Hub gathers multiple organisations in one place for rough sleepers to access, including probation services, drug and alcohol services, St John’s Ambulance, Rough Sleepers Team and lots of others. We also run clubs and classes in everything from English Language and Computer Confidence to Art, Textiles and Creative Writing.

Placements can be tailored to the interests and needs of the student, but on a basic level will involve a combination of first-hand service provision to clients (Food Club, reception), experience of the running of a charity in this sector (reception, help desk), shadowing of professionals (if appropriate) (Street Engagement Hub and Mustard Tree support workers), and planning and delivering sessions for our clubs and classes (Art, Textiles, Creative Writing, Computer Confidence, Job Club, English Conversation Club, Song Club).
